In What If S1E4:
In this alternate universe, Dr. Stephen Strange does not injure his hands in a fateful car accident. Instead, his girlfriend, Dr. Christine Palme,r is killed in the crash. Her death sends him on the journey by which he becomes the Sorceror Supreme. But in his desperation to reverse Christine’s death, Strange begins heading down a dangerous path of time manipulation. The Ancient One attempts to protect the universe from Strange’s dark sorcery, splitting him into two co-existing timelines. In one timeline, Strange becomes an obsessed dark sorcerer, while the other Doctor Strange moves on with his life. The dark Strange lacks the power to bring Christine back himself, so he overpowers the good Strange & unites their beings. But the plan backfires. Christine is not only horrified at the monstrous visage of Strange, but she dies all over again, and the universe rips apart.
