In What If S1E9:
In What If S1E9, the Watcher breaks his oath to not interfere with the multiverse. With the help of Supreme Strange, the Watcher assembles a team to save the multiverse from destruction by Ultron. In his infinite wisdom, the Watcher chooses Captain Peggy Carter, Star-Lord T’Challa, Killmonger, Gamora, and Thor. Natasha Romanoff also joins them in the fight against Ultron. The team is eventually able to separate the Infinity Stones from Ultron’s body, but Gamora’s Infinity Crusher fails to defeat the android. But Black Widow and Captain Carter save the day by uploading Armin Zola’s programming into Ultron’s body. Zola destroys Ultron but takes over his armor and the Infinity Stones.
Killmonger attempts to steal the armor and stones for himself, but Strange sacrifices his life to hold Zola and Killmonger at bay in a pocket dimension. The Watcher then returns the team to each of their universes and timelines, with Natasha joining a universe in which Black Widow had died. In the mid-credits scene, Black Widow reveals to Captain Carter that Steve Rogers has been found alive inside the long-lost HYDRA Stomper.
This episode stars Jeffrey Wright, Lake Bell, Hayley Atwell, Mick Wingert, Frank Grillo, Georges St. Pierre, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Hemsworth, Michael B. Jordan, Chadwick Boseman, Benedict Cumberbatch, Toby Jones, Kurt Russell, and Tom Hiddleston.
